LEARN TO SEW
Suitable for beginners. This class goes over the basics of operating a sewing machine, cutting and sewing garments, and basic pattern alterations.
The main project for this class is an apron custom fit to YOU. A typical first project is a tote bag,but we’ve chosen to have our students make an apron as it covers the same skills while also teaching basic tailoring and fitting. The goal of this class is to provide students with the basic skills associated with sewing, understanding patterns, and textiles, while promoting confidence and shifting the mindset of your everyday clothing as things that suit your needs and body, rather than things to simply wear.
This class will also explore clothing repairs and minor alterations like hemming, altering
necklines, adding pockets, etc. Students are encouraged to bring in items they wish to alter or repair.
